As part of the first edition of the Mesh Festival, two works by Sougwen Chung will be exhibited at der TANK: BODY MACHINE (MERIDIANS) and ECOLOGIES OF BECOMING-WITH. BODY MACHINE features biomimetic robotic speculations created using custom training models, spatial technologies, and motion capture. With the support of the Association for Robots in Architecture, Sougwen had the pleasure of participating in ROB|ARCH 2024, delivering a keynote lecture on the conference's main theme, Beyond Optimization, this past May. Inspired by insightful lectures from Brian Ringley and Yusuke Obuchi, Chung left the conference with fresh perspectives on the reality of the incomputable. ‘Virtual Ink’ showcases the figural fluid studies of Sougwen 愫君 Chung, part of an ongoing research practice exploring and expanding the boundaries of art and technology.
