ASIA FUTURISM: On the Role of Technology in the Arts

Coming Friday, Sougwen Chung will participate in a panel on Asia Futurism, organized in collaboration with Artnet, as part of The Art Market 2050. The discussion will also feature Carrie Chan (V&A) and Sammi Liu (Tabula Rasa Gallery), with moderation by Vivienne Chow (Artnet). This panel will explore the influence of technology on artists of Asian heritage and investigate the intersection of Western and Asian art markets concerning technology-based artworks.

Sougwen 愫君 Chung is a Chinese-Canadian artist and researcher. Chung is the founder and artistic director of ⇢ SCILICET, a studio exploring human & non-human collaboration.

A former research fellow at MIT’s Media Lab, Sougwen is considered a pioneer in the field of human-machine collaboration – exploring the mark-made-by-hand and the mark-made-by-machine as an approach to understanding the dynamics of humans and systems.
