“The Value of Art in the Age of Digital Reproduction” at Art Week Riyadh

As part of the Public Program for Art Week Riyadh 2025, the talk ‘The Value of Art in the Age of Digital Reproduction’ will be held on April 11 at 7PM at JAX, Riyadh.

The conversation, hosted by Shumon Basar, curator of the Public Program, brings together artists Mathew Dryhurst and Lawrence Lek, artist and filmmaker Anhar Salem, and artist and researcher Sougwen Chung.

This panel explores how new technologies operate as both medium and message, examining their role in shaping artistic expression and analysing the potential for symbiosis between human and machine creativity.

Sougwen 愫君 Chung is a Chinese-Canadian artist and researcher. Chung is the founder and artistic director of ⇢ SCILICET, a studio exploring human & non-human collaboration.

A former research fellow at MIT’s Media Lab, Sougwen is considered a pioneer in the field of human-machine collaboration – exploring the mark-made-by-hand and the mark-made-by-machine as an approach to understanding the dynamics of humans and systems.
