Topographies is a series of abstract compositions inspired by algorithms found in nature.

The work is composed of drawn graphite textures, reflective facets and procedural gestures. It is an expression of tactile strokes interlaced with software, resembling a crystalline terrain. The image depicts a desaturated labyrinthe of tensile woven gestures reflected on glossy interlaced form. Flecks of amber, concentrated at the centre, extend outward, dispersing throughout the composition. In Hearth, the drawn line and the procedural mark find a steely and understated equilibrium.

Four imagined topographies created using improvisational marks as a visual tapestry.

Fault Lines

(Topographies, Étude Op. 6, No. 1)

The work uses painterly detail and distorted pixels to create elevations. By inverting conventions of landscape painting, Fault Lines speculates on the emergence of new terrains.

Horizons

(Topographies, Étude Op. 6, No. 4)

The work is composed of swathes of paint and procedural gestures, resembling a suspended, dimensional landscape. Layers of amorphous form are nestled and splayed about in the composition, dissected with illuminated strands and extending on a perceived horizontal axis.

Estuary

(Topographies, Étude Op. 6, No. 2)

The textural grain of graphite depicted as wafts of dust emerging from sea level. The movement of the piece culminates in the centre; the locus of activity and sculptural fluidity.
